Slides, flip-flops and one garden clog

The cheap end of the range and the part most people underrate. These are the shoes you spend four hours a day in, and going barefoot on tile instead is what makes heels hurt.

Everything in this group is moulded EVA foam: light, waterproof, and rinseable under a tap. The differences between the models are in the footbed and the closure, not the material.

The plain pillow slide has a flat bed and one wide band. The arch version uses the same 4.5 cm sole with a contoured footbed and a deeper heel cup, which is the one to pick if your feet complain in the morning. The double-buckle slide swaps the fixed band for two adjustable straps and a textured outsole. The flip-flop is a one-piece moulding with an arch up to 1.2 in and no thong plug to pull out. The clog is the only closed-toe shoe here, and the only one the maker says runs small.

Before you pick a colour

  • Sizes are unisex ranges: the first number is the women's size, the second the men's.
  • Contoured footbed if you have heel or arch pain; flat bed if you find an arch bump annoying.
  • Keep all of it out of hot cars. EVA shrinks with heat and does not recover.
